I wrote a basic Locoscript convertor a while ago, the details of which are further down this page. Since then Anthony Jordan has written a far superior program that can convert a wider range of Locoscript files into text, rich text or pdf files.
Anthony Jordan's program can convert both individual files and complete folders, and sends all its output to a subfolder called "Locoscript conversions". You can download his program (Locomotion v1.7)
here (31 KB). It works with Windows ME, 2000 and XP.
To enable pdf output you will need to download iSEDQuickPDF.dll from either
here (version 5.11) or
here (version 5.14). Put the dll either in the same folder as the Locomotion program, or in the Windows\System32 folder.
My Locoscript convertor isn't as good in comparison but I'll keep it here for historical reasons:
This program converts files created in the old MSDOS program Locoscript into text files. It can be useful if you no longer have the Locoscript editor but have a lot of Locoscript files. The Locoscript file format is not released to the public so I had to try to work it out myself using the files I had, therefore it may not get perfect results all of the time.
It hasn't been tested on all the different types of Locoscript files (for example spreadsheets).
You can choose to have the text results put into individual files with the same name as the originals, but with '.txt' put on the end, or you can have all text put into one file of your choosing.
If you want more information about the files then choose the debugging option which will include any ascii characters in the file's header and footer.
